Soon, soon, soon…but in the meantime, here’s another excerpt from Huntress!

Agnez stared at him. Wolf, man, and huntress faced each other, a triangle of tension.
Thunder rumbled through the forest and Agnez and the man turned to face it. Agnez swung her bow around toward the sound. The wolf let out a low growl.
“It’s the creature,” said the man. “And it’s close. You should get out of here.”
Agnez stepped backward, returning her arrow’s aim to the wolf. “What is it?”
“I don’t know. But it’s killing the land where it moves.”
Agnez looked into the man’s silvery eyes, the only part of him that wasn’t scarred. “Come with me.” It was a command.
“No, you go. You don’t want me to come with you. I’m nothing but misery for everyone.”
“Come with me,” she repeated, not sure why. Something about his eyes. Her mother’s flower. The strangeness of the day.
He took a step toward her and she tensed.
“I’m not going to hurt you, but you have to leave. It’s coming. It’ll kill us both. Get out of here!” he yelled.
